Welcome to Langton House
Langton House is a Victorian town house set in a quiet leafy tree lined road in the heart of Windsor. Built in about 1890 it was a residence for Queen Victoria’s minor government officials.
During the time I have been running the B&B I have had a couple of guests who used to actually live here when it was a private house. One in particular was researching her past and had pictures of her as a baby sitting outside the front of the house with her Grandmother who lived here for a few years. Another guest wanted to stay because he had been born here!
Aga joined us in 2013 and is getting more involved in helping us run the B&B. She is from Poland but has been in the UK for many years.
We are only a short 10 minutes walk from the castle, walking through the main local shopping area which retains the Victorian charm and architecture, on the way toward the Castle entrance. Langton House is close to the Trinity church, built in the mid 1800’s with money from Queen Victoria as a garrison church for the troops guarding the Royal Windsor castle. Due to the relatively short life of the troops, she wanted to ensure they had access to religion so that they might make their peace with God before they died, mostly of disease rather than active service.
Alma road was named after the battle of Alma during the Crimean war and was the original boundary of Windsor pre 1900.
Langton House has been a Bed and Breakfast since 1979 and a family home for over 25 years. Marjorie and Roy were originally running it until 1998, when Paul (their son) and later his wife Sonja, took over the running, although Marjorie and Roy are still around to help out on occasions.
